So I’ve been getting a lot of emails with all kinds of questions about make up, fashion, setting up a business etc.
I don’t always have the time to reply all of them so I’ve decided to each week, pick a topic or two and answer here.
A popular one I keep getting is ‘What is with all this loud & bright colours people are wearing?’
I always laugh when I see this… one lady said ‘When I go out now, I feel I’ve attended a carnival!’
These colourful outfits you’re seeing is a fashion trend that started a year or so ago called ‘Colour Blocking‘
To colour block is to wear an outfit made up of a combination of bright, bold, solid colours like cobalt blue, neon pink, orange, yellow, fuschia etc.
It looks really good when put together well but I must admit it can also look scary when over done. Most people shy away from it because it draws a lot of attention. It is a trend for the confident!
Create a gorgeous look with our great choice of RenéeQ intuma waist belts.
These stylish belts are perfect for cinching in your outfit, creating a defined waist or giving one of your favourite outfits a whole new silhouette.
You’ve got it? Flaunt it chica!
In one of the BB broadcast messages KOD sent me, he said ”…on the 31st of March, all the stars in Accra will be missing because they will all be at the Golden Tulip Hotel for the launch of Nineteen57” ——-his clothing line.
He definitely knew what he was saying because almost ‘everyone’ was there. Our top fashionistas, politicians, actors, designers…even our former First Lady, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, seated in the front row! I bet there was no traffic in town that evening! lol
A huge congratulations to KOD for deciding to ‘share’ his style with other men
It’s about time! His designs are trés stylish! Bold colours, fitted, suave…I can go on and on.
Have a look at a few of his designs…I know I’ll definitely be getting a couple for Mr. B
A big Kudos to Edwina Akufo-Addo and Marina Donovan-Pote for opening a store in Accra with the high street shopping experience.
Finally a boutique where you can find something you like available in different sizes and/or colours!
They had a lovely cocktail to launch it and we were there to capture the fashion, glitz & glam.
I so love these!

So unfortunately nobody guessed correctly on my last ‘Facebook Quiz’. Yet still, many interesting guesses – Jeans Kouture, Jeans knickers (gosh!), Juniors & Kids (thanks for the inspiration), Just Kaba (hilarious!!!) but no….
RenéeQ JayK stands for ‘Jokoto‘:D
‘…and where did this come from?’
These shorts are also known as ‘Jokoto’ in Ghana but after further research I learnt that the ‘Jokoto’ swords (hmmm…sounds like shorts) were traditionally used by the Japanese Sumarai who used to wear shorts like this and were supposed to lead their lives according to the ethic code of bushido – “the way of the warrior”
I’ve reinvented this look using African print and hereby proclaim any fashionista who rocks this as a ‘Style Warrior’ who’ll be setting trends for others to follow
A major attribute of having style is being able to wear one thing in different ways.
Here are fun ways to Rock your JayK…
